Installation of a biogas pilot plant (2023)
A biodigester was installed at USTT-B in the beginning of 2023. The goal of this pilot plant was to analyse the effect of organic waste in the production of biogas (quantity and composition). After the construction of the biogas plant, a small laboratory was installed next to it, connecting the biogas plant to a biogas stove for studying stove efficiency. Another goal of the project was to assess the quality of the digestate produced as a subproduct of the biodigester. In this sense, the digestate was used to renaturalize the land area near the pilot plant, developing a small garden for the students of USTT-B.
