In September 2022, waste separation bins were installed within the premises of the USTT-B. Waste separation was divided into organic waste and inorganic waste. Thirty bins of 100 – 120 liter capacity were placed next to the students dormitory and the canteen. The goal was to promote waste separation practices in the academic world, determine waste characterization, and utilize the collected organic waste as feedstock for a newly installed biogas plant. Moreover, during this visit, project partners visited the National Agency for the Development of Biofuels in Mali (ANADEB) to discuss the implementation biodigesters in the country and design considerations for the pilot plant.
