The decentralized energy supply system at the village (Dar Es Salam) will be used to turn this village to a model/demonstration village in Niger. A solar PV battery system and the distribution networks will be installed for power supply. Solar powered water pumping and storage system will be installed. In addition to the newly built energy center, the households will be equipped with necessary measuring instruments for electricity consumption. Data on water and electricity generation and use will be used for the for the ongoing research activities on rural energy and water supplies. This first-hand data on technical, economic, and social aspects of this project will help to optimize the concept. An energy information center will also be built around the project site.
